Description

headspace Cairns is a welcoming safe space for young people aged between 12 and 25 providing access, support and information for a broad range of concerns, including mental health, physical/sexual health, drug and alcohol, employment and education and support for families and carers. headspace Cairns (under the direction of RFDS (Queensland) Services Limited) has been making a difference in the lives of young Australians since 2006.
  
The headspace team is now welcoming applications for the role of Clinical Educator. This is a part-time opportunity on a maximum term contract of 6 months, with the potential for extension. This position entails 2 days of work per week, which can be scheduled on any day.
  
As the Clinical Educator, you will help manage student and graduate placements at the centre as part of the headspace Early Career Program (ECP). In this role, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and integrating the centre's student and graduate placement program, and providing field supervision for students and graduates who join us from headspace National.
This opportunity will see you:

  • Manage student placements and maintain relationships with relevant universities
  • Coordinate the onboarding, induction, and field supervision of students and new graduates
  • Provide clinical supervision to students and graduates at headspace Cairns
  • Continuously review the program’s educational content
  • Co-facilitate tutorial style study groups (shared among the Clinical Educator network)
  • Participate in Advisory Groups (shared among the Clinical Educator network)
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects
  • In collaboration with headspace Cairns staff, provide advice on clinical issues and develop and implement health programs and services that enhance service provision
  
Who are we looking for?
  
In addition to formal qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing (Mental Health), you must have demonstrated experience in the development, coordination and
delivery of clinical training. You will be focused on helping us do things ‘the headspace way’, living our values of Inclusion, Collaboration, Agility and Excellence. In addition, you will have:
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Current paid employee Blue Card (Social Workers Only)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge, experience, and demonstrated passion for, the health and welfare issues affecting young people and improving health outcomes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks informing the mental health of young people.
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience in the provision of clinical leadership and supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to provide education to staff in formal and informal settings
