Description

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) is seeking a Practice Manager to join the Primary Health Care (PHC) team. The Practice Manager plays a vital role in driving efficient and effective primary healthcare services, leading state-wide practice coordination. This involves facilitating effective revenue generation, data analysis, reporting, and standardisation of primary healthcare practice management.
  
In support of PHC, you will;

  • Maximise MBS revenue and efficiency through supporting face-to-face, virtual health and telehealth billing
  • Implement systems to support the uptake and effective use of My Health Record and digital technologies
  • Facilitate EMR orientation and ongoing staff support
  • Manage systems for access to consultant letters, discharge summaries, and allied health staff information
  • Collaborate with all staff to ensure efficient services and improved data quality in the EMR for RACGP accreditation.
  
In support of patients, you will;
  • Act as liaison between patients and clinicians
  • Act as the main reference point for patient referrals
  • Identify overdue recalls or failure to attend specialist appointments and coordinate appropriate follow-up
  
As a leader you will;
  • Lead, support and mentor Practice Coordinators state-wide
  • Provide mentorship and training for other administrative staff in practice coordination
  • Backfill practice coordinators on leave
  
The Practice Manager is a full-time permanent position based in Cairns. As a key leader within the PHC team, you will work across the traditional RFDS Bases in Mount Isa, Charleville, and Cairns. In support of our teams, you will be required to travel and stay overnight in our other locations on a semi-regular basis.
  
Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a highly collaborative team player who is experienced in supporting PHC clinics and their teams. You should be adaptable, well-organised, adept at leading and influencing, and have a friendly and bright personality. Ideally, you will have extensive experience in practice management and hold a Diploma-level qualification. In addition, you will have;
  • Prior experience and proficiency in using medical software and IT systems
  • Ability to share skills and knowledge with a multidisciplinary team
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, clinicians, funders, and external bodies.
  • Excellent planning, problem-solving and organisational abilities
  • Understanding of Medical Terminology
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
  • Previous experience in AGPAL accreditation (desirable)
