About the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section)

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is one of the world's largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations including Aeromedical retrieval, Primary care, Virtual health.  In Queensland, the RFDS employs more than 500 people ranging from pilots, doctors, nurses, engineers, allied health professionals, and a variety of administration and support services roles. With a number of initiatives on the horizon, and projects in the pipeline, now is the time to join the RFDS (Queensland Section) and be part of our Towards 100 Strategy!

About the role;

  • Provide FIFO services across FNQ (including Cape York)
  • Combination of day clinic and overnight clinic rosters
  • Full time or part time position available
  • Fractional FTE available (not less than 0.5FTE)
  • 6 or 12-month maximum term contract considered
Key Accountabilities:
  
Under appropriate supervision of a Fellow, responsibilities include:
  • Provide general practice services (history taking, examination, decision making, diagnostics ordering and interpretation, clinical procedures, specialist referrals or secondary care admissions)
  • Provide clinical care of an acute or emergent patient, pending the attendance of retrieval services
  • Provide telehealth consultations (utilising telephone, videoconference, email)
  • Collaborate and liaise with other care providers to ensure an integrated approach to patient care
  • Provide advice to nurses and other health professionals as required
  • Participate in quality improvement activities (clinical audits and case reviews)
  • Respect cultural diversity including the traditional Indigenous view of health
Who are we looking for?
  
To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Registration with AHPRA as Medical Practitioner
  • 3 years post graduate experience
  • RACGP – GPT 3 or above (at least 12mths community GP experience)
  • ACRRM – CGT 2 and above (with either 6/12 primary care OR 6/12 rural and remote practice OR completion of relevant AST (Emergency, ATSI Health, Adult Internal Medicine, Remote Medicine)
  • Ability to meet PHC credentialing requirements
  • Previous experience in Emergency Medicine (desirable)

Please ensure you submit your intentions for training with your speciality training college (RACGP/ACRRM).

Successful candidates may be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment and will be required to undertake drug and alcohol testing.  Candidates are required to hold a current, unrestricted Australian driver's licence and obtain an ASIC Card.  You will also be required to successfully complete the RFDS credentialing process. Prior to appointment you will be required to provide certified copies of qualifications/registrations and evidence of immunity or vaccination against VPD.
