Description

headspace Cairns is looking for a dedicated Mental Health Clinician to improve the health and well-being of young people. This role focuses on Access and Care Coordination (ACCO), making sure young people can easily access the right care.

You’ll work with a team of healthcare professionals to provide accessible services. Your responsibilities include engaging with young people, screening, assessing, providing brief evidence-based interventions, therapy, referrals, and coordinating their care at headspace Cairns.
  
In this role, you will identify the best service pathway to ensure young people receive coordinated, high-quality, and youth-friendly care. You'll also provide brief, evidence-based mental health interventions.
  
This role is full-time on a maximum term contract until June 30, 2025 (with the opportunity of extension).
  
Who are we looking for?
  
In addition to formal qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing (Mental Health), you will have experience and clinical skills in mental health service settings. You will be focused on helping us do things ‘the headspace way’, living our values of Inclusion, Collaboration, Agility and Excellence. In addition, you will have:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  • Membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or willingness to obtain.
  • Current paid employee Blue Card (Social Workers Only)
  • Experience in mental health assessment and coordination of access to appropriate services
  • Experience in the provision of mental health services to young people, and their families
  • Knowledge of contemporary evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Skills in engaging with young people and advocating on their behalf
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence

Successful candidates will be subject to a Criminal History Check and may be required to undergo a medical assessment.  You will also be required to complete the headspace and RFDS immunisation program where you will need to provide evidence of immunity or vaccination against Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (VPD). Clinicians will also need to undergo the RFDS credentialing process.
