Description
As part of our ongoing commitment to quality care, we are seeking a Health Information Manager to join our Virtual Health & Clinical Informatics team on a permanent, full-time basis.
The Health Information Manager will play a critical role in managing and governing patient data and clinical information across the full spectrum of our services. This pivotal position ensures the integrity, security, and life-cycle management of patient records, while also driving improvements in business processes and clinical information governance.
You will collaborate with key stakeholders across the RFDS (Queensland Section) to contribute to the implementation of our Digital Health, Virtual Health, and Primary Care strategies, with a particular focus on best practices in clinical information management.
Key Responsibilities
- Governance & Compliance: Lead the management and governance of the patient record, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, privacy standards, and access protocols, including working with My Health Records and third-party health providers.
- Collaboration & Strategy: Work closely with Digital Health, Clinical Governance, and Technology teams to oversee the governance of health record systems, ensuring seamless integration across RFDS' digital platforms.
- Data Management: Oversee the governance of patient and healthcare provider data, including patient identity management and data interoperability, to support the accuracy and integrity of patient information systems.
- Leadership & Innovation: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiencies, contributing to RFDS' strategic initiatives and driving innovation in clinical data management practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and manage data-sharing agreements with external partners, while maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the integrity and compliance of clinical data management systems.
- Education: A tertiary qualification in Health Information Management is essential.
- Experience: At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in Health Information Management, with significant exposure to health data systems, governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Leadership: Strong leadership experience with the ability to influence, motivate, and manage teams and stakeholders at various levels.
- Knowledge & Skills: Deep understanding of Health Information Management competencies, with expertise in data governance, privacy compliance, and health data interoperability.
- Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Certification as a Certified Health Information Manager (CHIM) or Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA) is desired.
- Membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) is desired.
