Description

The Maintenance Watch Engineer (MWE) is a critical role in an expanding team that is responsible for representing engineering within the Operations Control Centre (OCC). The MWE reports aircraft defects, communicates action plans, prioritises engineering activities and coordinates aircraft recovery to facilitate the availability of aircraft assets for the RFDS (Queensland Section).
  
 The Maintenance Watch Engineer is a Permanent, Full-Time position based at the RFDS Brisbane Base.
  
Key responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Collaborate with other OCC disciplines on planned tasking and highlight engineering operational impacts such as aircraft AOG, MEL items, planned maintenance, aircraft hours remaining etc.
  • Provide advice to other OCC disciplines and pilots related to aircraft serviceability and airworthiness including MEL application and defect deferral
  • Report on expected time aircraft is returned to the asset pool for network tasking when schedule is disrupted by technical disruptions and inspection requirements.
  • Obtain technical information and additional approvals to enable approved maintenance, repair or repatriation of aircraft to maintenance bases for rectification in permitted timeframes.
  • Plan and implementation of improvements for Maintenance Control as directed by the manager
  • Investigate, report and contribute to Maintaining KPI’s for Aircraft Technical availability
  • Ensure the RFDS service delivery is compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Escalating airworthiness related matters to senior management and participate in emergency response management

Who we are looking for?

To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
  • Type rated on Beechcraft series (Beneficial)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft airworthiness and maintenance requirements as related to air transport aircraft and operations.
  • Experience in applications of maintenance management software and demonstrated high levels of computer literacy.
  • Strong understanding of CASA regulations
  • Experience in performing aircraft maintenance in passenger or patient transport operations
  • Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate resources and achieve outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work out of hours and shift work as rostered, currently Mon-Fri, Day and Afternoon shifts, with weekend and after hours rostered on-call.

Successful candidates will be subject to a police check and may be required to undergo a medical assessment and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. You must possess a valid, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence and be able to obtain an ASIC Card. There may be a requirement to travel in QLD for this role and work out of hours maybe required to respond to unscheduled outages and major incidents affecting critical systems.
