About this Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Principal Advisor Aviation Safety, Quality and Compliance (PAASQC), as the Aviation Safety and Quality Advisor, you will be motivated to assist the PAASQC in providing RFDS SA/NT responsible managers independent advice on the effectiveness of the aviation component of the overall RFDS SMS. Inherent to this role is the provision of guidance and advice in relation to all aspects of aviation safety, quality and risk, as they relate to aviation regulatory requirements, ensuring independence and compliance.

Specifically, you will:
• Provide advice on aviation safety as it relates to overall safety, quality and risk (SQR) and participate as part of a team accountable for SQR.
• Provide advice in line with current regulation and/or best practice.
• Contribute to the management of the risk register, incident reports, audits, change management activities and findings/actions in the integrated risk management software.
• Carry out internal and supplier audits, ensuring compliance and identifying areas for improvement.
• Perform aviation investigations and associated root cause analysis activities to identify corrective and preventative actions.
• Work closely with PAASQC in supporting Emergency Response and Business Continuity activities.
• Liaise with CASA and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) on aviation safety and quality related issues to ensure understanding and application.Actively promote and champion a positive safety culture.
• Participate, as required, in the Aviation Management Committee and the Board Aviation Safety Committee meetings.
• Ability to act as the alternate Part 135 Safety and Quality Manager.
About You
You are:
• Experienced in aviation safety/quality.
• Qualified in safety investigation with demonstrated experience conducting safety investigations, including an understanding of human factors and non-technical skills.
• Experienced in conducting system audits with a lead auditor qualification.
• Skilled in communication, negotiation and interpersonal relations.
• Able to analyse and apply problem-solving.
• Well-developed in your computer skills and the use of Microsoft Office applications.
To be considered for the role you require:
• Eligibility to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
