The Organization


Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency road, aeromedical and primary health services for people in rural and remote Australia. Mobile Patient Care (MPC) offers Non-Emergency Patient Transport primarily in Victoria and New South Wales. We work with a large fleet of ambulances and support our transport services with RFDS aircraft.

MPC provides clinical care for people travelling from home to hospital, hospital to hospital and hospital to home, as well as transport to and from specialist clinics. The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join our MPC team as Head of Enablement and Compliance.

About the Role:


This role is responsible for providing leadership and development, focussing on refinement and management of a forward-looking delivery program. Key responsibilities include overseeing and optimising operations within the Enablement team, such as fleet and assets, stores, rosters and shift-filling, and ensuring alignment with clinical governance standards. The role also involves overseeing the clinical workforce, including their induction, education, annual competency assessments, audits, and overall performance.


Your key responsibilities will include:


- Provide professional leadership to inspire and build staff engagement, fostering capability across key operational functions to achieve high performance and strategic alignment. Responsible for achievement of established business objectives, including the formulation and implementation of local business plans.

 - Lead and facilitate consultation processes, maintaining strong communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment in decision-making and program implementation.

- Develop and implement policy frameworks within the scope of expertise, ensuring alignment with organisational processes and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

- Lead or provide support the General Manager of Mobile Patient Care in negotiations with providers to meet service delivery and contractual obligations.

- Support operational continuity through participation in the Duty Manager Roster and demonstrate availability for periodic out-of-hours contact.

- Travel as required to oversee operations, maintain relationships with external stakeholders, and ensure seamless service delivery across regional locations.

- Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and improvement within the business unit, driving efficiency and enhancing service outcomes.


To be successful in this role, you will need:


- Previous experience in Logistics and/or Operations
- Clinical background (desirable)
- Experience in procurement and contracting (desirable)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
