Expression of Interest – Board Director

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) South Eastern Section’s purpose is to seek the best possible health outcomes for people in remote, rural and regional communities by providing better access to high quality healthcare.

We provide a comprehensive range of services across Far West, Western and North Western NSW including emergency aeromedical retrievals, telehealth services, patient transfers and primary care (including Primary health clinics, mobile clinics, GP practices, mental health, alcohol & other drugs services, dental health, child and maternal health, Aboriginal health services). We also deliver health education and support to communities where access to services is not readily available.

RFDS South Eastern Section is a not-for-profit registered charity and company limited by guarantee. The organisation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors in accordance with the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012 (Cth). The Board oversees the activities of RFDS South Eastern Section and draws on the expertise and insights of Directors to achieve its strategic priorities. We are one of Australia’s most trusted charities.

The Board of RFDS South Eastern Section is seeking a voluntary Non-Executive Director with a passion for and commitment to advancing access to healthcare across regional, rural and remote communities. As an active member of a skills-based Board of Directors, you will support the strategic direction and the governance of the organisation.

Eligibility Criteria

The criteria for the Director Casual Vacancy is:

Essential:

• At least 5 years recent experience as a Board Director;
• Experience as a member of a finance, audit and risk committee;
• Strong financial and commercial acumen.

Desirable:

• Experience as Chair of a finance, audit and risk management committee;
• CA/CPA qualified;
• An understanding risk management within highly regulated industries;
• Experience within For-purpose services sector;
• Leadership, vision and ability to champion RFDS South Eastern Section’s purpose;
• Formal Company Director/Governance qualifications eg.GAICD.

Candidates should reside in New South Wales.
