We are now recruiting for our next Ground School, commencing in April 2025! We are looking for pilots who are ready to take on the challenge of serving in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

About the role

This is a full-time Line Pilot role with the Royal Flying Doctor Service WO, based in Kalgoorlie WA 6430. As a Line Pilot, you will play a crucial role in delivering essential healthcare and emergency services to communities across Western Australia.

What you'll be doing


- Safely operating aircraft to transport patients, medical teams and essential supplies to remote and regional areas
- Conducting emergency and non-emergency medical flights as required
- Maintaining accurate flight logs and aircraft records
- Adhering to all Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations and Royal Flying Doctor Service safety protocols
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest aviation and medical protocols

What we're looking for

- Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
- Significant experience (minimum 1500 hours) flying fixed-wing aircraft in a variety of weather conditions
- Fixed-wing single pilot experience (Turboprop)
- Excellent flying skills and a demonstrated commitment to aviation safety
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- A passion for providing essential healthcare services to regional and remote communities

About us


The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.

The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.

In 2024, the RFDS is launching a new five-year strategy ‘Above and Beyond’, which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history. The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA’s most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
