Senior People and Culture Business Partner
Reporting to the Head of People, this newly created position will be responsible leading a team of People and Culture Business Partners in providing advice, support and coaching to Leaders in all facets of the employee lifecycle. This role will focus on driving the people strategy deliverables, employee relations and remuneration practices across the organisation, ensuring alignment with business objectives. You will drive a culture of continuous improvement within the People function ensuring that practices are forward thinking, innovative and aligned with organisational needs.
About you
As a leader at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) you will be a passionate and experienced professional who excels in business partnering, influencing and relationship building. The successful candidate will bring a solid understanding of Australian employment laws, employee relations and compensation frameworks, along with a proven track record of influencing and delivering strategic people initiatives. You will demonstrate proven experiences in influencing leaders to drive change and experience in leading a team and coaching managers to improve their leadership effectiveness.
About the role
- Lead and mentor a team of People and Culture Business Partners in providing expert advice in all areas of the employee lifecycle
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders to drive performance, growth, and organisational effectiveness through people strategies
- Provide expert advice on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with Australian workplace laws and regulations
- Provide expert advice into complex employee relations issues, including grievances, disputes, and performance concerns, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant resolutions
- In conjunction with the Head of People, lead the development and management of the RFDS WO remuneration strategy ensuring competitive and equitable salary and benefits offerings
- Provide oversight and direction into the negotiation of Enterprise Agreements within the organisation
- Involvement in the delivery of multifaceted projects across the organisation

About Us
The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.
The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.
In 2024, the RFDS WO launched a new five-year strategy ‘Above and Beyond’, which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history. The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA’s most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
