The organisation

When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.

The business unit:


Mobile Patient Care (MPC) offers Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) primarily in Victoria and New South Wales. We work with a large fleet of ambulances and support our transport services with RFDS aircraft.

MPC provides clinical care for people travelling from home to hospital, hospital to hospital and hospital to home, as well as transport to and from specialist clinics.

The position:


Offered on a full-time fixed-term basis until the end of February 2025 and located across Richmond, Essendon Hangar and working from home, the position is to support the General Manager of Mobile Patient Care ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of MPC.

Tasks and responsibilities include:

- Coordinating and managing all aspects associated with schedules, appointments and bookings for the General Manager
- Acting as gatekeeper to the General Manager
- Diary management, travel arrangements and meeting preparation
- Proactively managing emails for the General Manager
- Assisting and supporting the timely submissions of reports
- Assisting MPC across the wider team with administration support
- Processing invoices and credit card statements in a timely manner
- Preparing agendas and minutes for both internal and external meetings
- Supporting the Operational Management and Executive Teams as required

Skills and experience required:

- Previous experience as an Executive, Personal or Senior Administration Assistant
- Ability to prioritise and delegate where appropriate
- Strong Microsoft skills, including Teams
- High-level organisation skills
- Experience working with confidential, sensitive and confidential information
- Experience working in health, not for profit or real time logistics (highly desirable)

Mandatory requirements:


In line with RFDS Victoria’s mandatory policies, all employees are required to undergo a National Police Clearance, hold a Working with Children Check and have 3 * Covid vaccinations and annual influenza vaccination.
