  • About the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) 

    The RFDS is a national, charitable, health organisation delivering primary healthcare and 24-hour emergency services for those that live in rural and remote Australia. Long known as one of the largest aeromedical organisations in the world, the RFDS delivers health care where mainstream health services are not available, using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology and a broad-reaching ground-service fleet.

    The RFDS Federation Office is responsible for maintaining relations with the Commonwealth Government and overseeing commonwealth funding and National brand, research and advocacy on behalf of the RFDS Federation.

    About the Role


    This role will be responsible for driving, leading and supporting national projects of strategic importance across the RFDS federation, with the objective of ensuring and promoting efficiency, effectiveness, innovation and ongoing enhancements for health service delivery. This includes the coordination of implementation planning, reporting obligations and processes to ensure national programs and services continue to be appropriate, and inform quality improvements. 

    In particular, this role will lead the RFDS Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) program nationally, working in conjunction with RFDS staff across the country, coordinating the achievement of key deliverables as well as leading all internal and external reporting  obligations, and the development and maintenance of relationships with key RAP partners. Other current areas of priority include the RFDS medical chest program and digital health initiatives.

    Well-developed capabilities to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the achievement of project deliverables are essential  to this role, as well as the ability to identify and initiate new opportunities or projects to contribute to the improvement of RFDS service delivery. 

    Experience, knowledge and skills:


    Required



  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in health policy, public policy, public health, health service planning and/or improvement, project management or other relevant fields;
  • Highly developed project management, research, analytical and problem solving  capabilities; 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive project plans and related reporting, project proposals, briefings and meeting papers, including the ability write concisely about complex service and program matters;
  • Demonstrated experience in effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management including the ability to plan, identify and liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to inform and progress projects to completion.
  • Demonstrated high level computer literacy for word processing, spreadsheets and internet-based research

Work Requirements & Benefits

  • This is a part time position of 3-days / 0.6 FTE (24 hours) per week. Working hours / days must be between Monday - Friday with a mandatory working day being a Tuesday but the other days can be flexible.
  • location can be flexible / remote however travel to Canberra may be required from time to time.
  • The salary is $95k pro rata (inclusive of super) with Not-For-Profit tax benefits & salary packaging available
