BAM! The ambulance hit a roo. Kate, in labour, held her breath...

Flying Doctor Podcast #60:

Pregnant mum Kate Napier was living on a remote cattle station 50 km from Augathella, South West Queensland when she began experiencing contractions.

Expecting her second child, she had been planning to move into town in preparation for the babies arrival, but with her husband working and her first daughter under foot, her journey had been delayed. Her mother was coming to visit and care for their first born so she could head closer to a hospital, but she went into labour --   more than 150km from the hospital.

In the middle of the night, after dialing 000, Kate and family had to drive to meet the ambulance, as their station was difficult to find on remote dirt roads.

Listen to the story to find out about Kate's journey and the arrival of Lilly, full of thrill and challenges.
