Bright Smiles Charity Ride 2020

The annual Bright Smiles Charity Ride (BSCR) is fast approaching. This four-night and 3½ day-long motorbike event will take place from Thursday 30th April to Monday 4th May.

2020 will mark the 5th BSCR ride, an adventure that raises money so the Royal Flying Doctor Service can continue to provide much needed dental care to remote and rural Australians.

Access to oral healthcare is challenging for people living in remote areas, with far fewer dentists available. Oral health problems can adversely affect general health, including diabetes, heart problems and low birth weight in babies.

The work of the Flying Doctor is making a positive difference to the health of regional Australians. We have seen a fifty per cent reduction in cavities in children in some of the communities we serve. It is only thanks to these intrepid fundraisers that the Flying Doctor can make such a difference to dental services in rural New South Wales.

This years' ride will explore the beautiful scenery that Australia has to offer. Most days the ride is split into several "sections", aimed at providing riders with the chance to stretch their legs every couple of hours.

The group will travel over 1,000km from Austinmer north of Wollongong through stunning Australian landscapes. The 2019 event was a great success, with 27 adventurous bikers enjoying the best riding and hospitality the south coast NSW, high country Victoria and the snowy mountains have to offer. The dedicated riders raised an amazing $42,901.14.

This year, the devastation caused to the people of the South Coast and the High Country from the bushfires have made the Bright Smiles organisers more determined than ever to visit those areas to spend their money. These towns need our help, and the Bright Smiles Charity Ride will not let them down.
