The Royal Flying Doctor Service has stepped up to help out regional communities, announcing new partnerships with Local Health Districts to ensure clinicians can still get to regional and remote NSW.
The first new partnership to take off was with the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), which includes towns like Wagga Wagga and Griffith. With the cancellation of domestic flights to regional centres becoming a real challenge for many NSW districts, the RFDS was able to offer secure consistent access to specialists for the region.
Our wonderful aeromedical support teams were excited to be part of the initiative, and glad that clinicians would still be able to fly in and out of these areas with the help of the RFDS.
The RFDS is also continuing to provide crucial emergency retrieval services, including to patients with suspected and confirmed COVID-19. Although the virus presents new challenges, our courageous staff are adapting to new circumstances, undergoing intensive training to ensure that the people of regional NSW continue to get the help they need.
