Leaving a donation in your will to the Flying Doctors is a very special way of showing your support for the work of the Flying Doctor. Margaret Evans has made this generous decision
Margaret Evans has made the big-hearted and careful decision to leave a bequest in her will to the RFDS SE so her enduring passion for the service can live on.
“I’ve been supporting and volunteering for the Flying Doctor for some 28 years,” Margaret explains. “I’ve always really admired the wonderful work that John Flynn, Fred Mackay and others did in supporting the resilient people living in the outback.
Her commitment to the service was truly cemented after having the opportunity to witness the Flying Doctor team in action first-hand.
“After many years of travel, and various careers including working with the airlines and a freelance journalist, I had the unique experience of going on a flight out of Broken Hill. While I was on board, there was an emergency so I saw for myself the hard and efficient work the crew-members put in.
The need for the Flying Doctors is greater now than ever, she points out.
“Some city folk do not realise what can happen in the outback. And now with grey nomads travelling around regional areas, more people need the Flying Doctor than in years gone by,” Margaret said.
“I am hoping that the gift I am leaving the Flying Doctor will continue to help in some small way.
“I'm aware of the terribly high cost of maintaining and replacing an aircraft, also there are more specialised services now that all need funding.
“I would encourage others to support the Flying Doctor in this way as it has proven consistently over the years to be a very valuable and trustworthy organisation.”
