I hope you have enjoyed a restful Christmas and New Year and are ready for the new year ahead. Our team are excited for what is shaping up as another important year for the Flying Doctor.
The first Flyer of 2024 focuses on the great work our teams do, from the work that goes into preparing our pilots for the challenges they face and the world class facilities we have to ensure they remain ready for anything.
We also tell how we are incorporating new technologies to be more efficient in the way we work with our new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system winning the Rural/Remote Health Innovator of the Year award at the National Rural and Remote Health Awards in Canberra in November.
In addition we look at some of the incredible community fundraising that went on last year including our Oceans to Outback campaign which raised almost $3.5 million nationally and the dedication of Broken Hill women Marg Symes and Alli Nevil, who walked more than 300 kilometres in 40 degree heat through outback NSW to raise funds and awareness for the Broken Hill Wellbeing Place.
Again we would like to thank you for all of your support throughout 2023. As we marked the 95th anniversary of our first flight, your generosity continued to provide people with the “mantle of safety” our founder Reverend John Flynn envisaged.
We are immensely grateful that you choose to get behind the work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and support our communities in need.
