Clare Walter, our dedicated Dental Support Officer based in Dubbo, plays a vital role in ensuring our Dental Clinic runs smoothly.
“If we are not able to service rural and remote communities, leaving people untreated, they then end up in emergency institutions, taking away services needed for life threatening scenarios. Most of emergency dental cases can be prevented,” Clare shared.
Clare supports our Dental team ‘on the ground’ which includes driving the mobile dental van to rural and remote communities, often covering hundreds of kilometres.
Clare’s day typically begins by relocating the fully equipped mobile dental surgery from Dubbo to towns across New South Wales and the ACT. These communities range in size from a few thousand residents to as small as 14 people.
After arriving, Clare sets up the van, turning it into a fully operational clinic. With an A-dec dental chair, x-ray machine, and sterilisation unit on board, the van is like any modern dental surgery.
The Dental team provides critical services, from check-ups and cleanings to oral hygiene education for children.
Thanks to your support, Clare and our Dental team can continue bringing essential dental care to communities that would otherwise go without or have to travel hundreds of kilometres to see a dentist.
