The RFDS (South Eastern Section) has provided or assisted in the provision of 30,000 clinics since 2010.
This includes dental, General Practice and Women’s General Practice, nurse and breast nurse clinics across the South Eastern Section, from Collarenebri to Yunta.
CEO Greg Sam said that teams travel from Broken Hill and Dubbo by air and road to over 30 locations, delivering care to communities who otherwise wouldn’t have access to these services.
“While emergency retrieval will always be the core element of our service, we’re also really proud of the healthcare clinics we provide, which focus on prevention and early intervention,” said CEO Greg Sam.
“These vital services help people in remote communities to stay on top of their health, and to prevent or manage chronic disease.”
Services include 6351 dental clinics and 833 breast care clinics with the assistance of the McGrath Foundation. The figure also includes 1393 Women’s GP Clinics, where the RFDS provides the transport for patients to get to and from the clinic.
Dental clinics were expanded to Pilliga and Burren Junction this year and our dental team also introduced an oral health service at Brewarrina Primary School. A new primary care clinic was established at Innamincka with new clinics to follow in Tilpa and Louth in the new year.
“We look forward to continuing the expansion of our primary care footprint to new areas and new communities over the decade to come,” said Mr Sam.
Note: A clinic is the delivery of a medical consultation or service by a clinician, in one location on any single day.
