The Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section) won the Rural / Remote Health Employer of the Year at the National Rural Health Alliance Awards for our work across the RFDSSE Medical Services practices in Warren, Gilgandra and Condobolin.

While moving into these communities has meant we can provide certainty to communities at risk of losing access to vital primary healthcare services, it’s been equally important for us to ensure that our wonderful teams are set up for success and have meaningful careers with us.
Across the three communities, we now support over 12,000 people who might otherwise have to travel hours for even a simple check-up. Addressing the needs of these communities fundamentally comes down to our understanding of the people we serve.
A strong emphasis from day one has been on patient-centred administration that supports effective recall services and other key functions – we are reliable and a trusted source of care.

"Another priority has been to ensure our services are culturally appropriate with approximately 28% of our patients of First Nations background. With more than 90% of patients across all three sites rating their care as good or excellent, I would say we’re on a winning formula," said Jenny Beach, Executive General Manager, Health Service Development.
"In addition, we are investing in improved training opportunities and pathways for medical staff, innovative new care delivery models for patients, sophisticated administration and back-office functions, and effective use of nursing and multidisciplinary health professionals. We want these practices to succeed, and we see strong potential for RFDSSE Medical Services to be an important training ground for future rural generalists, underpinned by our national recognition as an award-winning employer."
"Of course, the Flying Doctor does nothing in isolation, and I would like to acknowledge the PHN, the LHD, the practices, outgoing organisations, the local Councils and communities, partner organisations and Rural Doctors Network (RDN) for their invaluable support. I look forward to what’s next – and again – I thank you for your ongoing support," finished Jenny Beach.
