The Flying Doctor is grateful to have been selected as a major donation partner of the TOMRA Return and Earn Scheme recycling program.
For the next six months, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section) (RFDSSE), is the major charity partner for the TOMRA Return and Earn recycling program which is available for participation at more than 600 locations across NSW.
Your eligible bottles, cans and cartons returned to a TOMRA Reverse Vending Machine are worth 10 cents each. Until 22 August 2021, recyclers can select the option to donate the earnings of their return to the Flying Doctor.
“Donations through Return and Earn will enable us to deliver more medical services to those who need them most. If two million drink container refunds are donated to the RFDS, $200,000 could help us deliver vital health care to families in rural, regional, and remote NSW,” Mr Sam said.
“People living in the outback just don’t have the same opportunities and access to health care as those in the city. This partnership will raise vital funds which will be used to provide outback emergency retrievals, GP clinics, mental and dental health, breast care, and chronic disease screening to Australians in regional areas,” Mr Sam said.
Chief Medical Officer of RFDSSE, Randall Greenberg, encourages people across the state to get involved in the scheme.
“Next time, you recycle your empty bottles at Return and Earn, please consider donating the funds to the Flying Doctor. Even small donations can make a difference to regional Australians,” Dr Greenberg said.
Founded in 1972, TOMRA is the inventor and world leader in reverse vending systems and has had great success in changing the way people think about litter.
“We are proud to be partnering with this iconic charity with a long history of supporting the health of Australia,” James Dorney CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway said.
