For more than 24-years the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section) has worked alongside Ergon Energy Retail and its customers, to raise over $19 million.
RFDS Chief Executive Officer (Queensland Section) Meredith Staib said the partnership with Ergon Energy Retail has been a significant contributor to enabling improved health outcomes across Queensland.
“Ergon Energy Retail remains an integral part of how the RFDS is able to continue to provide the finest care to the furthest corner,” Ms Staib said.
“By facilitating the regular donations from more than a hundred and thirty thousand customers, we know every day Queenslanders are making a vital contribution in a very meaningful way.
“This money really helps at the grass roots and we’re so thankful for Ergon Energy Retail’s ongoing support that now spans almost a quarter of a century.”
Ergon Energy Retail Executive General Manager Ayesha Razzaq said the ongoing relationship with the RFDS is something customers and Ergon Energy Retail employees genuinely feel a sense of pride in.
“We have customers ring us to share their own stories about needing the RFDS in a crisis while some of our own people have also had to call on this amazing service in their hour of need,” Ms Razzaq said.
“Our shared values of supporting and empowering communities across regional and remote Queensland are what makes this partnership truly special.
“Just making a small donation on each electricity bill of $5 can make a difference to enabling the Flying Doctor to continue providing world-class services wherever you are in Queensland.”
Both organisations are proud Queenslanders with bases and call centres spread across regional locations, including Townsville, Mackay, Maryborough and Rockhampton.
The Ergon Energy Retail customer donation scheme began in 2000.
