The RFDS was delighted after being chosen as the charity of choice for the 2018 ABC Christmas Appeal. However, the sheer amount of support we received far surpassed our expectations.
Running for three weeks from November 26 to December 14, an ambitious target was set the try and raise $150,000, which would be used to purchase two patient ventilators and two portable ultrasound machines.
We are delighted to say that not only did we reach our target, but we smashed it out of the park, raising a total of $193,185!
The support shown by our dedicated supporters was nothing short of outstanding, and the additional funds raised will allow us to purchase a third patient ventilator.
From everyone at the Flying Doctor in Queensland, we would like to thank everyone who donated – from those who we may have helped in the past, to those who simply admire the work we perform. Your selfless generosity will help so many people throughout the state. And to the ABC, who helped spread the word of the amazing work the RFDS performs right across Queensland (and whose presenters even went to some extreme lengths to drive donations, including shaving their beard!) thank you for your support.
