RFDS Queensland Section’s pursuit of the best and most responsive patient care possible was recently cemented with two new accreditations.
An incredible amount of work was undertaken by our aviation and clinical governance teams to continue to maintain our high standards of accreditation, and as a result, both ISBAO and the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) accreditation were awarded.
Our quality assurance programs team ensure that Queensland operations will continue to lead the way in our accreditations not only across the RFDS Federation but also in the Australian aeromedical industry. We have now completed Stage 2 of our ISBAO accreditation and on 21 March we achieved recertification for a further three years under the Australian Health Services Safety and Quality Accreditation Scheme.
The NSQHS Standards were developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care to protect the public from harm and improve the quality of healthcare. They describe the level of care that should be provided by health service organisations and the systems that are needed to deliver such care.
Both external auditors of these standards have been highly praiseworthy of the RFDS, stating “when you come into an organisation to review it, you immediately think it can’t be this good, but RFDS is “this good”. The survey team went on to say that the passion, pride and belief in what the organisation’s purpose is was very evident amongst its people.
