Have you ever wanted to own your own Rescue Swag for those hiking, camping or road trips?

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section) is giving you the chance to win one of five and all you have to do is tune into RFDS Radio.

From this week we’ll be giving one Rescue Swag away each week for five weeks by listening in to RFDS Radio for the code word, then emailing that word and your full name to radio@rfdsqld.com.au and then sit back and cross your fingers.

One randomly selected, correct entry, will be drawn each week.

So, what’s RFDS Radio Queensland – Connecting Outback Communities?

The streaming service launched late last year and has become a popular on-line radio channel for listeners looking for the latest insights about the Flying Doc as well as hourly news updates and great music.

RFDS (Queensland Section) Executive General Manager Commercial and Corporate Affairs Carole Tokody said the competition is exciting and this new Artificial Intelligence driven platform provides another important link to supporters and the wider community.

“We really wanted to find a way to have a channel that anyone, wherever they are, could connect with us,” Carole said.

“RFDS Radio Queensland allows us to do that in a way that’s both entertaining and informative.

“We’ve been fortunate to partner with an organisation like Local Sounds to come up with a radio station that really captures the essence of what we’re all about.

“It’s exciting, innovative and above all, great to listen to.”

John White from Local Sounds said it’s been great working with the RFDS (Queensland Section) to develop content with the help of their very own artificial intelligence radio announcer AI Joe.

“By combining AI technology with real human voices, we’ve been able to ensure the station is on air 24/7 and able to provide the latest up-to-date content as well as a great mix of music,” John said.

“We felt it was important to understand what it was the RFDS wanted to achieve with the station and to do that, we’ve worked really closely with them to create a format we think is really good to listen to.

“AI Joe can be tasked to provide breaking news, the latest weather forecasts as well as updates around RFDS flight movements and even upcoming towns to be visited by the Mobile Dental Service.

“It really is a station for all Queenslanders and we’re proud to have played a small part in creating the latest chapter in innovation for the RFDS in Queensland.
