The Roma Saleyards is thrilled to announce it will be welcoming back the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) for the first charity sale of 2023.
After the great success of last year’s charity sale, Council has resolved to donate 50% of the live weight and open auction selling fees received for each head of cattle sold at the Roma Saleyards Store Sale on Tuesday, 23 May 2023 to the RFDS.
The RFDS provides aeromedical retrieval services, along with primary and preventative healthcare services, to regional, rural and remote Queenslanders.
Mayor Tyson Golder recognises the importance of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the vital work they do for our region’s residents, workers and visitors to receive aeromedical and primary health care services.
“We are pleased to announce that the RFDS will be the charity beneficiary of the Roma Saleyards, Australia’s largest saleyards, on Tuesday, 23 May 2023.
The RFDS continue to be an integral part of rural and remote communities, providing a vital service to ensure the health and wellbeing of people from the bush.
We look forward to supporting such an important organisation and the services they provide to our community,” said Cr Golder.
Meredith Staib, CEO, RFDS (Queensland Section) said the community support received via events like the Roma Saleyards Charity Sale is critical in helping keep the Flying Doctor flying.
"We rely heavily on the generosity of individuals, community groups, businesses and councils and we’re so grateful to the Maranoa Council, Roma Saleyards and, of course the graziers in the region for their support during this event."
Funds raised from selling fees will be focussed on supporting the Maranoa region and as the saleyards are known for their record-breaking sales, with your help, we hope July 5 is one of those history making days.
Please contact your preferred selling agent if you would like to participate in this year’s RFDS charity sale.
