The annual Woolworths in-store fundraising campaign in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section) has proven a big success across Queensland and northern New South Wales, raising over $155,000.
It was a range of Queensland’s small communities that dug the deepest, with Roma coming out on top for the third year by raising $12,207 while Innisfail collected $7,735 and Bundaberg’s Sugarlands $6,042.
The money was raised through Woolworths customers and team members adding a $2 wall token to their shop, as well as donations at the checkout.
RFDS (Queensland Section) Acting Executive General Manager Fundraising and Philanthropy Sebastien Krantz said the total amount again showed just how generous people are in some of the state’s smallest communities.
“Places like Roma, Innisfail and Bundaberg have shown time and time again how amazing they are at supporting the work the RFDS does,” Mr. Krantz said.
“These communities continue to be the lifeblood of our organisation and we are very appreciative of their ongoing support.
“The total of $155,492 is an incredible achievement from the 255 Woolworths stores that participated.
“The RFDS would like to thank the Woolworths team for all their hard work in achieving such an outstanding outcome.”
The three-week campaign has come to an end, but customers can still donate to the RFDS (Queensland Section) at the checkout of their local Woolworths supermarket all year round.
