RFDS Aeromedical Training Academy
The new purpose-built facility, located adjacent to Bundaberg Airport, houses the only Beechcraft King Air 260/350/360/360Q Pro Line Fusion Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) in Australia.
TRU Simulation has custom manufactured the RFDS Beechcraft King Air 260/350/360/360Q Pro Line Fusion convertible Full Flight Simulator (FFS).
The FFS is fully certified as a Level D Simulator and is approved by the Australia Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
The Academy is equipped with four classrooms, four briefing offices, two instructor offices, student break out area with kitchen, amenities and onsite car parking.
It is located near the RFDS Bundaberg Base, a five-minute drive from the town of Bundaberg and 20-minutes from the Coastal town of Bargara.
The $25.3 million facility would not be possible without contributions from our partners including $14.9 million from the Australian Government and $3 million from QCoal Foundation. In support of this project, Bundaberg Regional Council kindly donated the land for this facility, and the RFDS will fund the remainder of the project through fundraising with help from our generous donors.
The RFDS Aeromedical Training Academy will provide aviation training to our internal pilots but will also offer external clients training services which include dry or wet hire of the FFS, B360 recurrent and type ratings.
RFDS pilots require 12 hours of training in the FFS per year.
