To Josh... the RFDS is lifesaving care - on the ground and in the air.
As a pilot and customer support officer with aviation software company, OzRunways, 23-year-old Josh Larven’s job takes him to various corners of the country.
His latest adventure in September, saw him fly 800km north from Adelaide to William Creek for the town’s annual Outback Fly-In, which attracts more than 200 aviation enthusiasts.
“We arrived in the late afternoon and got settled in, when we decided to head over to the pub to have dinner.
“It all went downhill from there.”
Josh was about halfway through his meal when something didn’t feel right.
“Since I was a kid, I’ve been anaphylactic to a lot of things and cashew nuts was one of them.
“This was the first ever time I was experiencing anaphylaxis, and I was nearly a thousand kilometres from home.”
Josh knew within minutes of exposure, his life was at risk.
