The RFDS in TAS
Primary Students
Our RFDS Tasmania education program offers a number of immersive experiences for students in Kinder to Grade 6.
RFDS Incursions
Our education team comes to your class to talk to students about the RFDS, its history and the work we do.
We will also introduce health-related topics, the depth and topic depends on student age, and lead activities that facilitate learning.
PLEASE NOTE that this incursion is free of charge and does NOT include the aircraft simulator.
Base Visit
Bring your class to our hangar, located near Launceston airport, to participate in a variety of hands-on activities.
Designed specifically for their age and grade, our base sessions have a focus on health promotion and preventative health care, such as oral hygiene and physical health.
An RFDS base visit also includes access to our state-of-the-art simulator. And sometimes, we are also able to secure a visit from the air services fire brigade.
Base visits are charged per session (1 hour and 15 minutes), or full day (4 sessions with multiple classes from the same school).
Simulator Incursion
We can bring the RFDS air ambulance simulator to your school for a full day.
Students can experience the interior of a RFDS air ambulance, its medical features and flight controls, on top of our incursion presentation.
PLEASE NOTE that a simulator incursion includes a fee and there are a limited amount of bookings we can take per year, so please contact us for details - 03 6391 0509
