Health care collaboration the focus of RFDS Victoria’s CEO Horsham visit

Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Victoria Chief Executive Officer Dr Michael Ben-Meir travelled to Horsham on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 February to meet with key health care stakeholders and identify areas where RFDS Victoria can collaborate with local organisations to address the unique health care needs of the community.

During his two-day visit Dr Ben-Meir engaged in a series of productive and insightful discussions with local stakeholders, including, Grampians Health, Horsham Rural City Council, Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Co-Operative, and Western Vic Primary Health Network.

Dr Ben-Meir said the visit is part of a broader initiative of RFDS Victoria to further explore potential partnerships and support the delivery of health care services across country Victoria.

"Fact-finding missions like this are crucial for understanding the specific challenges faced by rural communities, and in developing tailored solutions that can make a real, sustainable difference to health outcomes," Dr Ben-Meir explained.

“We know the most effective way to support rural health services is to meet with the very people who live and work in these communities – these stakeholders know the existing unique health challenges and are best placed to help us understand where our services have the potential to best support."

The Chief Executive Officer also reiterated the importance of strong partnerships in delivering tangible health outcomes to rural communities.

"RFDS Victoria is committed to working closely with local partners to ensure that every Victorian, regardless of their postcode, has access to high-quality health care services,” Dr Ben-Meir said.

“I’d like to sincerely thank the representatives from Grampians Health, Horsham Rural City Council, Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Co-Operative, and Western Vic Primary Health Network for being generous with their time and knowledge during my visit.

“I look forward to the outcomes born from these discussions and the opportunities they will bring to strengthen health care delivery in Horsham and beyond,” Dr Ben-Meir said.
