Last week, RFDS Victoria held its first John Flynn Luncheon in three years, once again at the RACV City Club. This was an important event, as it allowed our staff, supporters and community members to come together in person and celebrate the work of RFDS.
Hosting the lunch was Flying Doctor ambassador Peter Hitchener, who got into the spirit of the event by opening proceedings with a mock news segment. This lighthearted portion of the lunch provided an overview of key moments from the past year, with special guest Allan Raskall featuring in a report from Ryman Healthcare’s new John Flynn Retirement Village.
As the theme of the lunch was “Spirit of the Outback Adventurer”, the event also included a panel discussion with Australian adventurer Linda Beilharz OAM and RFDS Victoria Chief Executive Scott Chapman who had both recently undertaken outback adventures in support of the Flying Doctor.
Immediately preceding the luncheon was our AGM Forum, which was hosted for the third year in a row by our ambassador Catriona Rowntree. This event saw us reflect on the achievements of RFDS Victoria over the last 12 months, and incorporated an insightful panel discussion with RFDS Victoria Medical Chair, Adjunct Associate Professor Morton Rawlin, Dr Anita Moss from our Rural Women’s GP service, and AJ Rowe from the Murray Valley Aboriginal Co-op in Robinvale.
We would like to thank Ryman Healthcare for sponsoring the luncheon.
We would also like to express our gratitude to every attendee of both the AGM Forum and the John Flynn Luncheon. Both of these events are important staples of our calendars, as they offer invaluable opportunities to meet with supporters and share stories from our communities.
