National Standards

It is with a great sense of pride, and gratitude to our partner services, that we are able to announce that RFDS Victoria has achieved accreditation against the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (National Standards) for its Wellbeing, Telehealth and Speech Therapy programs.

“This was a significant undertaking for an organisation like RFDS,” explains General Manager Primary Health Care, Dr Melanie Trivett.

“The unique nature of our operations – spread over the entire state and often in mobile delivery – meant that our assessment was always going to be different to a traditional fixed health care setting. We needed all-in support from staff across every department at RFDS, along with the understanding and collaborations from partners and local host sites.”

Given the distinctive operations of RFDS, a decision was made to undertake National Standards accreditation in a phased approach, with our other services to be assessed at a later date.

The phase one assessment process included in-the-field observations in Kerang, Robinvale, Ouyen, Warracknabeal, and Prahran. Our success thus far is testament to the strength of our partnerships and the collaborative spirit with which our teams and partners approach the work we do.

Phase two of the process will see us working towards our dental service’s accreditation in the 2021 financial year.

This process is a crucial part of our overall commitment to ongoing quality improvements and regular review, whilst ensuring that the standard at which we operate is in keeping with our counterparts across the country.

A sincere thank you to all involved in the process.
