For the seventh consecutive year, RFDS Victoria sent a team to join in the fun at the annual Variety Kids’ Xmas Party.
“It’s always a pleasure to be a part of this fantastic event which brings the joy of Christmas to kids in need,” said RFDS Victoria Education Manager, Tom Ryan.
A total of 5,000 children, accompanied by some 3,000 carers and 500 volunteers attended this year’s event.
Tom estimates that more than 1,000 junior pilots climbed aboard the RFDS simulator to experience what it’s like to be a Flying Doctor.
“The kids are so excited and have so many questions about flying and medicine. They love being able to put on the headsets, resuscitate teddy and listen to their heartbeat through the stethoscope.”
