Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria Chief Executive, Scott Chapman, was recently recognised at the Committee for Melbourne’s Melbourne Achiever Awards for his extensive contributions to the community – both as an individual and through his numerous Executive Leadership and Board Governance roles.
Mr Chapman was awarded the 2023 Melbourne Achiever Award – Individual in a ceremony held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, in the presence of Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC CVO, Governor of Victoria, and Committee for Melbourne Patron.
The prestigious accolade is awarded each year to an individual in recognition of the extraordinary efforts of an exemplary Melbournian.
The Committee acknowledged Mr Chapman’s outstanding and inspiring contribution to community strengthening through his work in outdoor education, disadvantaged youth and aged care, and his dedication to the not-for-profit sector, including the incredible growth achieved at RFDS Victoria.
To compliment his dedicated position at the helm of RFDS Victoria, Mr Chapman also holds many governance roles and significant board positions across the Melbourne community. This includes being Chairman at Doutta Galla Aged Services, the Dafydd Lewis Trust, Western Melbourne Tourism, the Enterprize Ship Trust, and is Deputy Chair at Cottage by the Sea. He is also Director of Male Bag Foundation and Awards Victoria Ltd.
Mr Chapman’s individual charitable contributions were also highly praised, particularly his participation in the Indian Pacific Cannonball Run across Australia where he raised $160,000 - over a 10-day ride – for RFDS Victoria and Melbourne charity, Very Special Kids to fund a special ambulance for the joint ‘Road to Respite’ program.
The RFDS Victoria Board and staff all congratulate Mr Chapman on this significant award and recognise his many contributions to the organisation.
