Partnering with Consumers

At the RFDS, we put the patients and communities we serve at the centre of everything we do. We welcome and actively encourage the involvement of the patients, carers and communities we service to help ensure we are providing the most appropriate and highest quality care. Our purpose is to ensure we listen, partner and take action with our patients and the WA community to make our services better.

We seek a diversity of views and experiences from the community to represent the breadth of regional and remote WA, including different demographics, locations, experiences and backgrounds.

We continue our commitment to the best possible care for all patients, regardless of location or background, providing a personal and dignified experience for patients and involving them in all aspects of decisions about their care.

The RFDS is guided by our Consumer Engagement Framework and our plan to deliver '10 Tools to Partner with our Patients and Communities'.

This is achieved in three key ways at the RFDS in WA:

      1. Patient Feedback

All patients and their carers are encouraged to complete a patient feedback form, or make contact with our team if they wish to provide direct feedback or have questions following their care. The patient feedback form is available below. Feedback measures are regularly reviewed to ensure we are meeting our standards and to identify and resolve any issues.

      2. Community Advisors

Our Community Advisory Group consists of a diverse group of Western Australians who represent different regions, cultural backgrounds, abilities, and experiences of the RFDS. Each has a unique skillset and perspectives that is highly valued by the RFDS. Members are part of the RFDS WA Community Advisory Group and some are members of RFDS management committees to ensure we have a consumer voice in all areas of policy-making and decision-making in our organisation. The purpose of appointing Community Advisors is to enable the RFDS to directly listen and partner with consumers so that we have regular input that enables us to learn and improve to meet the expectations of the community. Community Advisors are supported to actively participate, speak up and share points of view about RFDS services. To enquire about becoming a Community Advisor, please get in touch by email at westops@rfdswa.com.au.

      3. Community Engagement

The RFDS team engages with community members and stakeholders at a range of events and activities across WA. We welcome the feedback and support of community organisations around the State, and take every opportunity to share the stories of our patients. Read our Latest News here.
