Goldfields mining company Topdrill hosted a fundraising event for the Flying Doctor as the movers and shakers of the resources sector gathered in Kalgoorlie-Boulder on the eve of Diggers and Dealers 2020.
General Manager for Health Service Delivery James Sherriff spoke at the grand opening of Topdrill's new facility and $90,000 was raised by several businesses in support of the Flying Doctor.
The Flying Doctor in Western Australia supports mines and exploration sites with our medical chest program and telehealth service, with 1 in 4 patients from the Goldfields region retrieved from a mine site.
"The RFDS shares a long and proud history with the resources sector," said Mr Sherriff.
"Regional industries are the backbone of our economy and our service gives peace of mind to people working and living in regional WA.
"The quality of our service does rely on the support of everyone in WA to keep us in the air. We are very grateful for the support we receive from businesses and community."
The Flying Doctor in Western Australia retrieved 1,621 patients from the Goldfields region during FY19-20.
