The Royal Flying Doctor Service (WA) is extremely excited to be at this year’s Brunswick Show, the South West’s biggest agricultural show, on Saturday 22 October.
This year, the show is celebrating our crucial rural emergency services. We’ll be there along with other emergency services, so come say hi to our friendly team, check out our flight simulator or purchase some RFDS merchandise.
Our stall will be positioned on the main oval at the Showgrounds. We’re delighted that proceeds from the Clarabelle Auction will be donated to the RFDS. Clarabelle is a life size ceramic cow who will be auctioned at the show to the highest bidder.
Last year Clarabelle raised over $10,000 on show day for Solaris Care in Bunbury. The RFDS is extremely grateful to have a small community like Brunswick contribute in this way to our service.
Brunswick Agricultural Society President Julianne Hill said she has a special place in her heart for the RFDS.
“I really have a soft spot for the RFDS for a couple of reasons.
“Firstly, who didn’t like the Flying Doctors (TV show) when they were growing up? On a more personal level, the RFDS extracted my mum from Ravensthorpe where I grew up and flew her to Perth. They gave her critical care, saving her life.
“I also went to school with Libby Stearne who’s a flight nurse at the RFDS. I watched her complete year 11 and 12 through distance education and I’m really proud of the work she does at the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
“I hope we raise a significant amount of money through the Clarabelle auction which will help the RFDS do the vital work they do every day,” said Julianne.
The RFDS in WA operates 24/7, 365 days a year so we can be there for you when you need us most.
We look forward to seeing you at the Brunswick Show.
