A group of Perth-based motor car enthusiasts are set to get On The Road Again (OTRA) to raise vital funds for the Flying Doctor in WA.
The annual OTRA event, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, will see a convoy of fourteen pre-1990 cars and unique 4WD’s covering 2000km from Northam to York over eight days from Saturday 7 November.
Pit-stops include; Koorda, Southern Cross, Kalgoorlie, Widgiemooltha, Norseman, Condingup, Esperance, Hopetoun, Newdegate, Wickepin, Kojonup and Cuballing.
Since its inception in 2010, OTRA has raised over $504,000 in support of the Flying Doctor in WA.
OTRA secretary Brendan Sinclair said: “We continue to raise funds for the RFDS because it is an honorable charity and serves the people who live remotely who need to know that someone is there to help them.
“The RFDS is an essential service that helps people in their time of greatest need when they are sick or injured. The service also delivers medical and dental clinics to people who aren’t able to access healthcare until something goes dramatically wrong.
“As we are a city-based charity, OTRA has tried to get the word around that if you are travelling into regional areas and become injured to sick, the chances are that the RFDS will fly you back to Perth to access definitive or specialist care.
“By supporting RFDS, OTRA is able to help in a small way by raising much needed funds to help the service continue their fantastic work.”
