The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Western Australia proudly congratulates board member Professor Fiona Wood on her inclusion in the Australia Day 2024 Honours List.
Professor Wood has been named an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in recognition of her “distinguished service to plastic and reconstructive surgery, to medical research, and as clinician scientist and mentor.”
A leading burns specialist, Professor Wood become world-renowned for creating a spray-on skin that was used on survivors of the 2002 Bali Bombings.
Professor Wood is an integral part of the RFDS WO Board, having been a member since 2019. The RFDS WA is so fortunate to have her unique expertise and input, helping lead excellence in clinical care standards, and setting the culture and strategy that ensures our organisation is there for all Western Australians.
She has previously been honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2003.
