RFDS in WA participating in annual Broome International Airport Open Day
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in Western Australia is participating in the Broome International Airport Open Day today, Saturday 11th of February, which will see exhibits from the Australian Defence Force, PHI Helicopters, Aviair, NORFORCE Broome, Air Services Australia and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. There will be live music from the Western Australian Army Band and a free sausage sizzle and drinks provided by Lions Club Broome.
Head of Community and Engagement for the RFDS in WA Rebecca Maddern said the RFDS presence at the Broome International Airport Open Day is a valuable opportunity to thank our supporters, swap stories and raise awareness of the service in the WA community.
“The RFDS has shared a long and proud history supporting the health needs of people living in the Kimberley, last year retrieving 2,265 patients and delivering them to primary health care. The Broome RFDS base is our second largest base, with about 50 crew members in town” Ms Maddern said.
The event this year is expected to draw a larger crowd, with the presence of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) who have been based at Broome International Airport due to the recent Fitzroy Crossing floods. The event will ‘open’ the airport to community members to learn more about the airport, its tenants and services (such as RFDS WA) and showcase the importance and value that aviation services deliver for the community.
The open day is happening from 8am until 12 noon today, Saturday 11th February 2023. For more information on the Broome International Airport Open Day: https://www.broomeair.com.au/media-news/broome-airport-open-day
