Travelling across the wild, wild west in support of the RFDS are a group of Perth motoring enthusiasts from the On the Road Again (OTRA) club.
No strangers to driving on country roads, the 2021 OTRA event which is in its 11th year kicked off on Saturday 9 October with a convoy of 14 vehicles travelling from Lancelin to Toodyay over eight days.
Sure to capture the attention of locals is the convoy of 26 participants and four SAABs, a variety of 4WDs, SUVs and a Mercedes, travelling nearly 2,000km in total.
Pit-stops include Jurien Bay, Eneabba, Dongara, Morawa, Mullewa, Northampton, Kalbarri, Nabawa, Three Springs, Dalwallinu and Wongan Hills.
After raising a whopping $36,750 from last year’s event, OTRA secretary Brendan Sinclair said the RFDS continues to be the club’s charity of choice as it is an essential service appreciated by communities far and wide across Western Australia.
Fundraising activations include securing sponsorships, auctioning off items and importantly raising awareness of the RFDS with whoever they come into contact with while on the road.
“We want to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service in its commitment to ensuring the health and safety of everyone who lives, works and travels throughout WA,” Brendan said.
“This year, we decided to travel into areas that have been affected by Cyclone Seroja. We want to also be able to support these communities by staying in different places each night with a lay day in Kalbarri.”
On behalf of our crews and patients, we thank OTRA for their long-term support of the RFDS which continues to propel us forward in supporting the health needs of regional and remote WA.
If you would like to donate in support of the 2021 OTRA event, please contact the RFDS WA fundraising team on (08) 9417 6400. Tax deductible receipts will be issued for all donations.
On behalf of our crews and patients, the RFDS thanks OTRA for their vital support and wishes all participants a safe and memorable tour.
