Key achievements of the past year were highlighted in a speech by Board Chair Sam Walsh AO.
A major milestone was the completion of negotiations for a new 10-year agreement with the WA Country Health Service, which aims to enhance aeromedical services for regional patients. This partnership is part of RFDS's broader strategy, Above & Beyond, which launched in June, leading up to the organisation's centenary in 2028.
In the past year, RFDS crews transferred 10,376 patients—an average of 28 individuals each day. To meet that increasing demand, RFDS announced a partnership with the Rinehart Medical Foundation and Roy Hill to acquire a new-generation Pilatus PC-12 NGX aircraft, one of eight new aircraft to join our fleet over the next decade.
The RFDS Fortescue Heli-Med Service also celebrated a milestone with over 300 patient retrievals and expanded operations to seven days a week. This included notable achievements such as its first neonatal retrieval and the transfer of a patient from the Abrolhos Islands in the Mid-West.
Another highlight was a record $1.2 million raised during the fourth annual Flying Doctor Day, contributing to a total of $20.4 million raised through fundraising, bequests and corporate partnerships.
