The RFDS in WA

Responding to COVID-19

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (WA) stands ready to respond to the health needs of regional and remote communities throughout Western Australia.
We continue to prepare for a surge in demand for our services when COVID-19 enters our State.
To date we have:
- Boosted and diversified our fleet of 20 aircraft to include a new PC-12 aeromedical aircraft, two EC145 helicopters with a third Rio Tinto LifeFlight PC-24 jet to arrive early 2022;
- Bolstered our frontline workforce - recruiting more clinicians and pilots; and
- Integrated new technology and streamlined our infection control processes so we can continue to provide the safest and most efficient aeromedical transfers.

COVID-19 Aeromedical Retrievals
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (WA) has safely aero medically retrieved 131 suspected and 9 confirmed COVID-19 patients to date.
